It was the highest grossing feature film in Japan in the year of 1997, holding the Japanese box office record before ‘Spirited Away’. An interesting fact to also know is that the term ‘Mononoke’ is actually a Japanese word meaning spirit or monster (supernatural beings), not referring to a human as many people may think.

I haven’t watched this film in a long time but from what I remember it’s a beautiful and story-driven film. It has abstract and symbolic elements that can interest many people in my opinion!
