Part Two of the #divinefeminine and #goddessguidance #oracledeck comparison.
Two of my fave #Goddesses are present in both decks: #Sekhmet and #Yemoja.
Photo 1) Side by side of DFO and GGO versions. GGO uses an interesting variation in name. #Yemaya and #Yemanja are the two I hear/use the most often. Again, I gravitate more to the DFO artwork.
Photos 2-5) These are screenshots of the guidebook entries for both Goddesses from both decks. Very stark contrast. I love the extra time (and space) that was used by the DFO deck to talk about the history of the Goddesses and figures featured on the cards. I feel like if you erased the names I the guidebook and slapped different artwork on the GGO deck, it could be almost anything. With DFO it come across as more respectful to highlight elements of #tradition and #worship.
It really rubs me the wrong way how the GGO talks about the Goddesses and depicts them. This is highlighted more next to the DFO deck. But, I'm glad I have both. GGO introduced me to a number of Goddesses/figures that I might not have known. To compensate for the lacking entries, I just research them on my own to understand and connect with the energy and traits signified by the cards I happen to draw.
The finish on the DFO deck is such a huge misstep. I'm not really sure how I'm going to manage that deck if I can't get them to shuffle properly. Maybe a windmill shuffle on a table top. Then pull cards from it.
I got lucky between #amazon #primeday and discounts, I scored the DFO deck for under ten bucks. It also let me buy the #goddessoracle by #amymarashinsky. Should be here in a few days.
