It is based on the manga Nono-chan by Hisaichi Ishii and was made to express a watercolour art style of animation. Takahata replaced paint-on-cel techniques with digital technology to achieve this look, making this movie the first Studio Ghibli feature films that’s painted entirely on the computer.

I haven’t watched this film yet but am really wanting to do so since it looks so fun and light-hearted! 🌼
