Do you have honey oak (or any other warm toned wood) in your home? I know honey oak can give off some serious 90’s vibes, but here’s the thing, I guess I’m not totally convinced that’s always a bad thing. To me, there’s something so cozy, inviting and yes, nostalgic about seeing those warm wood tones in a space. Would I choose it now if I was designing this house from scratch? Probably not. But, that doesn’t mean it isn’t beautiful. I really think that it’s working with those quirky things, instead of just changing them, that truly gives a house warmth and character - I mean even a new build isn’t totally perfect. While I know this honey oak can look dated, I just can’t seem to bring myself to paint over all. So instead, I went in search of some inspiration to help me to justify keeping it (if only in my own head). What I found was just too beautiful not to share though, so I gathered it all up and posted it to the blog today - I’m calling it “an argument to keep our honey oak” and I’m dedicating it to everyone that might be struggling to love the wood trim in their own home. I hope it leaves you as inspired to love your wood trim as much as it’s inspired me!
