Another release from Hozan Yamamoto, perhaps one of his most known but also great albums. “Silver World” is a masterpiece. Yamamoto is accompanied by a great cast of musicians here creating a “dialogue” between two cultures. The album consists of two parts. Side A is more tranquil even meditative at times, with the bamboo flute on the forefront and multiple background notes by the rest of the participants. On side B things suddenly change, become more contemporary or even “western”, with post bop and modal elements on a dialogue again with the bamboo flute. My personal highlights apart from “silver world”are also “a heavy shower” and “sawanose”. #masabumikikuchi responsible for writing most part of this LP, delivers also a stunning piano performance. #garypeacock at his best, as well as #hiroshimurakami on drums. Recorded on two takes on October 15th & 20th at Victor Studio. Released via Phillips later on 1971, this album has been reissued a few times ever since on both vinyl and cd.
