Being an aversive is different to functioning aversive.
This stems from “Harnesses are aversive, my dog prefers their prong to a harness”
Harnesses are not designed to function as an aversive.
Car finds coats aversive, but these do not function to punish her. Both of these protect her physical well-being.
A prong is designed to apply an aversive correction. It functions as such. I don’t use them because of that function.
This is solely my perspective.
