VOMIT COLOR AND CONSISTENCY
Various illnesses can lead to vomiting, making it challenging to identify the exact cause.
Vomit comes in different colors, potentially revealing the cause. Different colors on the vomit chart indicate varying levels of concern.
🟡Yellow
Normal vomit color, often containing bile due to an empty stomach. Can appear foamy or liquid.
🟢Green
Might be due to eating grass or increased bile in the stomach.
⚪White
Contains digested food, especially if the dog hasn't eaten for a while. White foam indicates an empty stomach with saliva and liquid.
⚫Black
Could result from ingesting similar-colored substances or digested blood due to toxins or gut bleeding. Requires urgent veterinary attention.
🔴Red
Indicates blood presence, possibly due to intestinal bleeding, toxin ingestion, or clotting issues.
🟤Brown
Reflects the color of ingested food, often seen with dog food and kibble.
🟠Orange
Could mean an empty stomach with bile that's slightly tinted
