~Valley of Dreams~
This image was sort of a personal quest this summer. The monsoons arrived later than usual and the timing was perfect. Catching a rainbow here in front of the canyon walls is tricky since the walls are so close to you. I visited this spot many times over a few months and one evening it all came together.
I arrived early around 5 pm and a huge thunderstorm quickly moved in. Lightning was extremely close and the sound produced from the towering canyon walls was almost deafening. It was a torrential downpour for almost an hour and water was flowing everywhere. If you look closely you can see the many waterfalls coming off the walls. As soon as I saw the sun dropping below the clouds I hopped out of my truck and ran to my spot and only had about 30 seconds to capture the image you see here before it was gone. It was truly one for the books!
