We are so glad to have met @flygaivotafly , she has been the best virtual Gamcha enthusiast and has become a lovely friend now! She took some GAMCHA from us started creating some beautiful things as part of her project 🌈✨

“ I love Indian Handlooms, and I have a deep respect for their makers. They are the legacy of hundreds of years of what, I would argue, is the richest textile tradition in the world. I am particularly impressed by entrepreneurs who are taking Handlooms and making them a part of every day life in new ways. When I first saw the clothes made by 145 East I was immediately struck by their brightness, beauty, and brilliant pairing of fabrics. I bought a dress and a shirt and then found them on Instagram so I could see what else they were doing.

Four years ago, I also started sewing and quilting. I did not initially use Handlooms from India, but rather more common quilting cottons that are easy to find in the U.S. As I began to experiment more with my work, I wanted to explore using Handlooms in the quilts that I am making. I could only imagine how beautiful a quilt would be made from the gamcha fabrics that 145 East is using so beautifully in their work. When I reached out about acquiring some scraps from their clothing making I was so pleased to see that they were also eager to participate in a sustainable practice with their scrap materials.”
.
.
.
#gamcha #colourful #cotton #handwoven #textile #quilting #quilt #project #beautifullyhandmade #handmade #handsewing #love #145east
