This Marvel Series II card was one of both of our first exposures to Namor, the Sub-Mariner. This card always grabbed my imagination when I was a kid. I had no idea Griffin was an actual supervillain, let alone an entity capable of human thought and speech. It was years later when I learned Griffin was a person with his own agency. But when I first laid eyes on this card, I thought he was Namor's pet manticore that he would ride into battle. But, nope. Turns out this animal was actually a man who would father Yo-Yo Rodriguez from Secret Warriors!
