Vigen Derderian š¤ Iranās first male Pop Star #iranianartists #adinezine
Born in Hamedan in 1929, āthe Sultan of Popā left an inedible mark on Iranās music scene. One of the first Iranian entertainers to perform with a guitar. And despite leaving Iran before the ā79 Revolution, his music continued to resonate, reaching millions through the black market.
Coming from Iranās minority Armenian Christian community, Vigen sang in both Farsi and Armenian, showcasing the rich diversity of his roots. He was often compared to Elvis Presley (Ngl he is super khoshtip) and in that era - at the height of his popularity- he was featured in movies and shows internationally.
In 1968, the Beatles (inspired by eastern philosophy and music) traveled to India. Paul McCartney decided to spend a few days in Tehran and during his private visit, he wanted to meet Iranian Pop Musicians and listen to their performances. Swipe to see images of him hanging out with Vigen and his older brother Karo - a poet - smoking hookah together in Tehran.
Vigenās last wish was to return to Iran and perform for his vast & diverse audience. To this day, his music lives on in new movies, series, and yes even in remakes on TikTokā¦ šļøš«¶š¼ #vigenderderian
