On a day trip through Norfolk County, our first stop was to visit the Delhi Tobacco Museum & Heritage Centre.
This small museum tells stories of agriculture and heritage that helped turn Delhi from a dustbowl into an agricultural powerhouse.
The building is a model of a typical tobacco pack barn and houses a large agricultural collection, which includes exhibits on tobacco, ginseng, and alternative agriculture grown, as well as cultural exhibits on the people who helped build Norfolk County.
The museum grounds back onto a lovely park and gardens, with a winding river and a footbridge over the falls.
Delhi may be the town that tobacco built, but most of the area farms have pivoted from tobacco to growing crops like ginseng and lavender, as well as wineries, which has helped make Norfolk County a tourism destination.
