This cake was used for Queen Victoria’s granddaughters wedding cake in 1884! Apparently early cakes had up to 25 squares. Her husband was “Prince Louis of Battenburg”. Hence the name!
Is sponge cake sections. Held together by jam. Wrapped in marzipan.
I had to make this as part of my Afternoon Tea sticker set. It’s super British.
Also. Because I’m a big BTS fan, it’s one of the cakes they were given to try when they were in London for their Wembley concert years ago. I also took a cake for my Air BnB host in Seoul last year - not sure she was keen on it. 😅
