And I’m back! What a week.
I did so much, from tours of the local areas, from coast to mountain top, a walking tour of the most artistic village in the whole of south Portugal, where funding isn’t accessible for the arts so this towns whole ethos is to share their creations for free around their village, filled with murals, engineering happy sculptures made from found objects in gardens, self elected donkey presidents and basically the nicest people you could meet, I walked the boardwalk hike and was transported to a Star Wars landscape filled with caves going in every direction under the city. I’ve spoken to local artists in their own shops and studios and had the pleasure of purchasing a few hand made ceramics, with Portugal’s densely terracotta clay everything was so different to the use white stoneware I work with so it was a delight to see how they use that rich orange with their art rather than against it.
