I was very stoked Dave reached out to me for a board. When I was in elementary school, he was skating pools in Houston.
The first pool I ever skated was in 85, the public diving pool on Hammerly in Spring Branch on Houston's west side.
My friend Kit had an off-campus class directly across the street with Dave Reul.
One day, he said "bring your board tomorrow and jump on the Career Center bus".
The next day I did.
The bus driver didn't recognize me and I said I was a new student lol
When we got to the Career Center, Reul met up with us. We ran across the street, jumped the fence, and skated for the 2 class periods Kit and Dave were supposed to be in auto mechanics.
Hopped on the bus and went back to our normal campus.
I got in school suspension, for skipping 2 classes, which was fine with me.
Back then the city would drain the public pools every year. However, every year after that, I'd never catch that pool empty. Schwartz, also in spring Branch, and TC Jester were the 2 I most frequently got to skate. Never made it over to Parker, unfortunately
Anyway, thanks again Dave for asking me to put some maple under your feet, I hope you're having a blast with it!!!!
