🧂 Colorful Salt Writing Tray

Let’s explore the salt tray, great fine motor practice! We went through some letters and he either knew how to write it or I modeled it on the tray and he traced over it and then tried it on his own. Letter recognition, shapes, numbers, sight words, spelling words, what have you… this is a great way to ignite creativity in writing and curiosity for subjects that may be a challenge at some point. I use this for prewriting all the way up to spelling word practice! Smooth out the salt or give it a little shake to clear!

Directions for colorful salt: Put salt into a large ziploc bag. Next pour in food coloring (just eyeball it to get to the shade you want) and begin mixing it in the bag by working it in and shaking it. You can enhance the sensory bin by adding essential oils. Make sure that you choose an essential oil that is safe for kids and only a drop or 2.
