#nationalpoetrymonth day twenty
The birds glide above the sea
so slowly it seems
they are suspended in space
tugged by kite strings
or perhaps hanging from a baby mobile
and swaying above the shoreline
to drift us off to sleep.
And it is so lovely
to see something moving so unhurriedly.
Adagio,
adagio.
Not an admonition,
but an invitation.
Adagio,
adagio.
And the birds glide above the sea.
