Through 93 public investment announcements, the Ministry of Economy (SE) headed by Raquel Buenrostro estimates that Mexico could attract approximately $35.153 billion in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), with the amount expected to
“enter the country over the next two or three years”
This was revealed in the “Public Investment Announcements”, compiled in the first quarter of 2024, a document that also anticipated that the FDI attracted would allow for the creation of 47,702 new direct jobs.
Although President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s administration has been critical of private energy generation projects, in order to strengthen the state-owned Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), the department headed by Buenrostro boasted investments in this area.
