We've been preparing the land to plant avocado trees alongside our coffee trees! This intentional co-planting benefits the coffee by providing necessary shade, improving bean quality, and increasing soil moisture retention. To facilitate this, we're loosening the native soil to create deep holes that will adequately support the trees' growth. Additionally, we're enriching the soil with compost to supply essential nutrients and beneficial microbes, fostering a diverse soil ecosystem. Our team is also constructing wire baskets to create a protective barrier around the young tree's roots, preventing rodents from gnawing on or damaging them.
