I stopped by my alma mater Columbia to see what was going on with the Protests that have been going on there for the past 2 weeks.
What I've been able to gather is Pro-Palestinian students are picketing for the University to divest it's money from companies that support Palestine. And then there are Anti Semitic claims that the Jewish students are saying that they are experiencing on campus. It's a lot to take in.
I'm all for standing up for something you believe in. As an American it's our right to do so. I am a very compassionate person. I'm a little more concerned about issues a little closer to home: Homelessness, Gun Violence, Racism - all right here in America, in my city, down the block, on the corner from where I live. The problem I have with America is we find money to aid other countries in need, neglecting what's going on in our own country. We need to take care of home first. My mom used to say, "Clean up your own backyard before you help your neighbor mow their lawn "
