Unforgettable encounter and the Forest therapy road.

Last year we decided to walk the Kubotani Forest Therapy Road. What we didn’t know was the unexpected encounter that was waiting for us.

The man in the first photo had his truck parked in front of the entrance. Now this place is almost forgotten in the middle of nowhere in Shikoku so he was just cutting the grass of the sunny field in front of it.

Kind and curious, he approached us with a smile and a polite demeanour. After we chitchatted a little bit, he told us that he was from Kōchi and was there for the weekend just to do some field maintenance.
His story was with a sad note but ended in a big relief. He had worked in a big company known all over the globe for a crazy long time and got laid off turning his life upside down and became a truck driver.

He looked happy. Sweating while cutting the grass under the strongest Japanese sun but not afraid to chat with us and give us advice on the place, the food and life in general.

The walk was amazing, just us forest and frogs.
One day we might meet again.
