Students and faculty at Temple, Drexel and Penn staged walkouts and rallies at their campuses Thursday afternoon.
They then marched through Philadelphia streets with other demonstrators as part of activities nationwide to condemn the death toll of the Israel-Hamas war and demand a cease-fire.
The Temple protesters called for the university to divest its finances from companies involved with Israel and for an academic boycott of Israel. At Drexel, pro-Palestine protesters and a few Israel counter-protesters demonstrated by the Dragon statue before meeting the Temple group at City Hall and marching to West Philly.
At Penn, faculty and students gathered around the Split Button sculpture and gave speeches laying out their demands.
