#NATION || After yesterday's phase-2 of India's general elections, the country has voted on over 1/3rd of total seats (190 of 543) but while the awareness of elections is high, not alot of people are showing up to cast their right to vote.<br /><br />The average voting % on these seats which was 70.09% in 2019 and 67.40% in 2014, has now fallen to a mere 61% that too thanks to the north eastern states that have as high as 80%+ while more populated states like Maharashtra that have barely touched 47% voter turnout.<br /><br />It is easy for people from all walks of life to voice their opinions online as the internet became easy, be it complaining about the government or supporting their ideology but when it comes for them to step up and do something about it, they are missing in action.<br /><br />This fall in enacting their duties of a citizen is a is not being acknowledged but it goes a long way to decide not just our own but the nation's future which somehow people forget trying to enjoy one extra holiday that they get for voting.<br /><br />Tourism migration has rather witnessed a rise and despite repeated requests from the authorities to the citizens to come out in large numbers to vote, it hasn't reflected on ground.<br /><br />While many have claimed this is due to the overconfidence of people in their preferred party that it shall win, or due to heatwave that is on its peak, the reality lies that our efforts of merely 20-30 minutes help us retain a right to question the government we choose.<br /><br />There're still 5 more phases (353 seats) left , let's come out in large numbers and vote!<br />.<br />.<br />.<br />#ilovebongaigaon #India #Election #Vote #People #Citizen #Right #Country #Opinion #Parliament #Fight
