My photo won first place at the Garden Clubs of America annual meeting and Flower Show this week. This is a photo of the Santa Elena Canyon in Big Bend National Park. The full moon was rising behind me and thus lit the canyon with the Rio Grande flowing through it. This was about 12:30 AM. The Milky Way had been visible in the V of the canyon but once darkness was overcome by the light of the moon, it faded and you can barely see it. Single shot capture.
