In 1844, followers of William Miller expected the Second Coming of Jesus (the Advent), which did not happen as expected. After the Great Disappointment, the Millerite movement splintered into many Adventist sects. Meanwhile, the East saw the emergence of Bahá'u'lláh, the Prophet of the Baha'i Faith, and the Báb, Herald of Bahá'u'lláh, to lead the Bábí movement. Today, the world is suffering from increasingly divisive forces, and the question of what the destiny of our global civilization arises.
