It’s Sunday, our routine to head to church, the place we listen to the teaching. Undistracted. Which truthfully is really hard with the recent news that Kevin has to endure major heart surgery tomorrow. Yes, just hours away. The news can beat us down and invade our hearts with worry and fear of the unknown BUT we defiantly choose a few things; peace, trust, joy.
Here’s why and what God has shown me in this season of both sorrow and revelation ~He is near. Hit after hit, He is near.
Peace ~was almost immediate. The doctor calling me back to share the findings. Starting the conversation with, “your husband’s heart looks great” only followed by the dreaded, “but…..” . My response was two fold, “ugh this sounds serious and does this mean we can’t go to Puerto Rico?” (because of course I’d ask that), but there was a peace that enveloped my heart. I knew then, the vitality of this word: remember. Remember God Marisol. He’s shown Himself faithful, He can be trusted, and He is with you as He is with Kevin.
Trust~ the theme since the news almost and exactly a week ago- God can be trusted. He is Sovereign over all. Nothing that happens is by accident. Not even the worst of the worst. There’s a purpose and a plan. And yes, we can be scared, confused, angry, etc….
Joy~ even with this, we have had so many moments of laughter. Joyous laughter with the family and our beloved friends who have visited and just reached out somehow finding humor. Oh man our souls needed that. Having our Chelss and Cam fly home to be with us and all the kids together even through the “fighting or arguing” (because our family is FAR from perfect) we have laughed. Laughter really is good medicine.
We have been so humbled by the many praying to the Matchless Name of Jesus. I’m believing this is so much more than the physical action of heart surgery. #trust #faithoverfear #defiantjoy #stayawaketolove #dontworry #mysweetcomfort #peace #openheart #laughteristhebestmedicine
