Despite the war, #rewilding efforts in the delta continue to progress, both in Ukraine and Romania. Host @James__Shooter recently explored the picturesque Romanian side of the delta and virtually connected with Oleg Dyakov and Mykhailo Nesterenko from Rewilding Ukraine, along with Sebastian Bugariu from SOR. They discussed the remarkable comeback of delta inhabitants such as the endangered Dalmatian pelican with the helping hand of @Pelican.Way.of.LIFE, as well as successful initiatives to rewild wetlands and steppes in the region, supported by the Endagered Landscapes & Seascapes Programme.
Kulans, water buffalo, and wild horses are once again roaming freely in the landscape, alongside marmots, hamsters, and other wildlife. 🐃 🐎 🐹 James was awestruck by the resilience of both people and nature in the Delta and expressed the wish to witness with his own eyes the free-roaming saigas in the free steppes, as well as other wild plans of the rewilding team that came true.
