It’s back to real photography. What do I mean by that? Now that winter has officially become a thing of the past, we are back on the South Fork of Long Island. As most of you are aware, I took two trips this winter. Went to Colombia and Africa. I call travel photography EASY. Great subjects fall into your lap. You don’t have to search for your subjects. They are shown to you on a silver platter and you click, but that’s not what my journey is about. For me, photography is so much more. It’s also about finding your subjects, getting up extra early to catch the great morning light, composition and creativity. I love to take pictures of subjects we take for granted and use my creativity to present those subjects in unique ways and show people how beautiful these creatures are. The South Fork is waking up. The Ospreys are back and Mom and Dad have staked their claims for their nests and there are even some new nests to observe. Great Whites, Snowy and Great Blues are arriving and I even spotted some Cormorants and Terns. The migratory birds have not arrived yet, but I expect them shortly. They will spend two to three weeks fattening up on the plentiful food at Shinnecock and then fly north. Got up early on Saturday and made my way to Shinnecock. I found some Great Whites and Snowy’s foraging and decided to take some pictures of a Great White flying as the sun rose.
