I don’t often think about what I’ve had tattooed on my body, but like anything worth anything that’s timeless and has the possibility of depth, there’s some potential for juicy reminders. It’s like song lyrics that you extract different meaning from over time, or the layers of understanding you discover in a good book. I can’t say what “Stay True” ever actually meant in the beginning. I don’t remember what my thoughts were on it and only vaguely remember what exactly was going on in my life at the time. Today, it’s a reminder from my past self to not give up and find a way. I had a really good plan on how my job and what I’m doing with my art could work. A really good plan. Yesterday I was inevitably let go from my job, nothing bad just a lack of work for my position. I’m leaning on little reminders, tools picked up over time, messages imagined and discovered in the world around me, and faith to find my way forward. I’m wholeheartedly good, grateful for the loving and supportive people around me, and will just conjure up a new plan. I’m sharing because something like this used to be more devastating for me and now, it’s just a redirection. I can only hope that others in similar positions can find that perspective as well. There are different, magical ways to see and interpret the world. Same obstacles, different feelings and impacts. Life is truly bizarre. 💚
