Simple Butterfly / Shag Haircut ⬇️
Here’s one of my most popular haircut tutorials. Section the front from apex to behind the ear. Take horizontal sections from top to bottom. Elevate section straight out from the head shape and cut a line the follows the contour of the frontal ridge (front hairline to apex) elevate subsequent sections up into the first. Repeat on the opposite side.
Pivot sections in the back (back to front) from the apex down to the hairline. Elevate sections up to the ceiling (no over-direction) cutting a steeper concave angle. This will create a disconnection through the sides. Cutting the length is optional ⬇️
I first played with this combination of sectioning and disconnection/connection back in the 90’s during my time teaching at Vidal Sassoon Academies. It’s my favorite play on round concave layering and can be used for many other outcomes. Keep it simple ⬇️
