As we journeyed through our Baltics road trip, Riga pleasantly surprised us in two wonderful ways. Firstly, it has a fascinating and rich history spanning over 800 years, shaped by the influences of Germans, Poles, Lithuanians, Swedes, and Russians, before securing its final independence. Secondly, the architecture here is truly breathtaking - from the awe-inspiring Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ, to the old historic centre adorned with houses from the Hanseatic League era, and finally, the captivating Art Nouveau neighborhood with buildings that resemble works of art themselves.
As we bid farewell to Riga, we could not help but reflect on the treasures we discovered amidst the rain and winds. We leave behind not just the weather, but also the hidden corners filled with rich history and immense architectural beauty. Riga will forever hold a special place in our memories, a city that charmed us with its tales of the past and its timeless beauty.
