Southern white rhinos were thought to be extinct in the 19th century until a population of under 100 were discovered in South Africa in 1895 🦏
Nowadays, there are around 18,000 southern white rhinos, but they still need our help to protect all rhino species from poaching and secure their future. This is why we're proud to work with @tusk_org, a wonderful organisation that works to conserve rhino populations in the wild, particularly black rhinos in Northeast Namibia, home to the largest free-ranging population.
