Marriage is primarily a covenant between husband and wife, but this covenant also changes their relationships with other people. When a child grows up, his parents are responsible for him and he has to obey and respect them. But when the child has grown up and marries, his relationship with his parents changes. Of course, he is still to respect them. But his primary responsibility now is his wife, not his parents. He should love her, protect her and provide for her in the first place. ⠀
