One of the aspects of my neurodivergence is my ability to identify systems and patterns, and ways to navigate them.
It was one of the reasons I enjoyed working in public relations, or enjoyed the strategic work of arts advocacy, or it’s been particularly helpful in working with clients seeking healing through plant medicine or in my work as a helper/coach.

Getting to know and understand the ways in which we perform for others, or the ways that our actions appear to others is extremely important if we are hoping to make change. For ourselves, or our communities. Or, both, ideally.

These platforms empower us to make “public” stances.
There’s more work to do on the other side of the keyboard.

I help folks with the non performative work.
Focusing only on the external facing side can be dangerous, and not particularly fulfilling.

This week I had one client who’s been diligent in their approach to explore a next chapter in their life. They came to me with a focus on career, they’ve been most excited about just how expensive “this work” can be and how they feel empowered to embrace this new chapter with curiosity and confidence.

I’m also working with a couple who after a few sessions identified some areas of their life that had been unconsidered, but were contributing to the unease they’d been feeling.

Here’s to you doing the work to get beneath “the optics.”
And here’s to collective liberation, freedom, and joy.
