It was fantastic to see so many families come along to our Family Fun Day on Friday afternoon, to celebrate the opening of our new primary playground.
Indigenous Elder Geri Hayden, who worked with Nature Based Play to inspire the design for our new playground, opened proceedings with a welcome to country, alongside Olman Walley who performed a smoking ceremony.
There was a buzz of excitement as children (and adults!) got to enjoy the many different activities on offer throughout the afternoon. The bravest volunteers put their hand up to hold and interact with different insects, whilst others enjoyed having their faces beautifully painted by Fairy Alice.
There was also the opportunity to gather in our new yarning circle to learn some traditional dances, listen to Didgeridoo playing, and hear stories told by Olman.
Our school bands and choir kept families entertained as they enjoyed picnics on our spacious new grassed area. Our Adolescent Program students were busy keeping everyone well-fed with a sold-out sausage sizzle and delicious bake sale, giving families the opportunity to check out their new building!
