Buckaroo

Buckaroo

I had wanted to paint this for years and finally purchased the toy to make it happen. (Oh, and learnt to paint to make it happen too). Buckaroo is basically plastic God of stress and was totally a childhood lesson in learning to say no before you have a meltdown.

🇺🇸The Tapaojo, colloquially known in México as "Tapojo", was a leather blind, about 14.5 inches long and 2 inches wide, which was put on colts and horses on their forehead, immediately above the eyes, adjusting it by means of a rope called "fiador" which went over the neck, circling the jaws and tied on the left side. It was used, as its name indicates, to cover the eyes of the colt or horse that was going to be ridden for the first time during the early stages of its training and thus prevent it from bucking when frightened. It was also used to cover the horse’s eyes to prevent him from being frightened when left alone tethered, after dismounting. These Tapojos also served as decoration, since there were very ornate and elegant ones that matched the jáquima (halter) and the bozalillo. Today, like many other Charro traditions and trappings, the Tapojo is no longer common in Mexico. #charro #charros #charreria #charreada #vaqueros #cowboys #cowboy #vaquero #vaquerostyle #cowboylife #cowboyshit #longlivecowboys #vaqueros_y_rancheros #buckaroo #buckaroos #horsemanship #equestrian #horselife #horseriding #horsebackriding #caballos #mexico #mexican
