40 weeks + 1 day workout 🎉 have only averaged about 2 workouts per week at the end here but still proud of that!! Weirdly past due this workout felt better than any I’ve done in the last 3 weeks and I didn’t sleep last night. Hormones make no sense. Lots of labor prep stretches to warmup. Superset: KB deadlifts x8 Alternating chest presses x20 (hardest part is getting in and out of this gotta roll lol) 3x (1-2 min rest in between) Work up to 3 mins of some very pregnant rowing. I rested every minute OR until a Braxton hicks came on 😂 whichever came first. Everything and anything gives me a Braxton hicks contraction anyone else?! Superset: Pulldowns x12 RFE split squats x10 each 3x (1-2 min rest in between) 3 mins rowing Circuit: Biceps x10 Triceps x10 TRX W to shoulder press x8 2x Cool down with a lot of ball bouncing and pelvic circles come on baby!!!!!! 👶🏻🫡🩵😅 #pastdue #pregnancyworkout #40weeks #strengthtraining

Dear Theodore, this journey with you has been anything but easy but I am so blessed to have you here. Being a mother isn’t easy but being a NICU mom is not for the weak! Today is May 16th, 2024 a day that was supposed to be filled with joy as you entered this world! But things don’t always happen the way we want. You had one foot out the door quite literally to meet us early. It’s hard to not blame myself for not being able to do the one thing I was supposed to and that was nurture you in my belly for 9 months. What could I have changed? What could I have done to given you the best outcome? But in all the questioning I always found myself talking to God, and what I found was that his timing is always right! I no longer see it as why us, but rather thank you for saving us from any heartache we could have endured which I know would have absolutely broken me and is not something I would have come back from. Everyday I see you grow and transform in front of my eyes, it is a long road ahead and I am ready for it! You have brought me so much patience, patience that I didn’t know I needed. Enjoying my birth photographer life 🙌🏻 | Ik zag dat ik al ruim een week niet gepost heb hier. Een week! En dat terwijl ik juist in een hele fijne positieve vibe zit (misschien júist omdat ik online minder aanwezig ben, maarja da’s niet hoe het werkt helaas 😉). Er zijn in deze week weer twee mooie kindjes geboren. Een jongen en een meisje. Thuis en in het ziekenhuis. En ik betrap mezelf er al een tijdje op dat ik tegenwoordig met iedere geboorte nog meer sta te genieten. Ook als het pittig is, als het anders loopt, als het spannend wordt, als het lang duurt, bij onverwachte wendingen, als ik moet blijven schakelen, als ik een nacht moet overslaan. Ik loop nog net niet huppelend door de verloskamer (al zing ik soms wel stiekem zachtjes mee met je geboorteplaylist 🎶). Vroeger kwam ik nog weleens volledig uitgeput van een geboorte thuis, zelfs als alles goed en vlot was gegaan. Dan had ik mezelf in die uren volledig gegeven en wist ik nog niet hoe ik mijn energie kon doseren. Hoe ik weer kon opladen. Ik was letterlijk gevloerd 🫠 Nu geef ik nog steeds alles. Maar laten we zeggen: ik heb een stijgende leercurve 📈😅Opladen kan ik inmiddels bijna overal, zelfs ‘on the job’. Gewoon in de tussendoormomentjes, ik heb er mijn trucjes voor 🧘🏽♀️. Het is nu mijn superpower 🔋. En natuurlijk kom ik nog weleens doodmoe thuis (mijn thuisfront leest mee en straks denken ze nog dat ik gisteren best nog zelf had kunnen koken 😆) maar dat is niets meer in verhouding. Fijn hè? Ik zou zeggen: dat is een beschuit met muisjes waard! (want ik miste nog een bruggetje naar dit mooie beeld. Heb jij het hoofdpersoontje al gespot? 💕)

✨PART SEVEN - THE BIRTH✨ ⚠️I have pixelated but photos are still full-frontal and graphic⚠️ 🎥I am happy to DM the birth video to friends & family🎥 Fiona could see that my pushes were much more effective on my in breath and when my lungs were full than when I was trying to "breathe the baby out". We had previously spoken about guided pushing and that I would like help, because I'd never done this part before. It wasn't the same as counted, purple pushing, I was breathing when I needed to but managing to get 4 really good strong pushes per contraction. She'd say "One really big shove at the end if you can" which I was amazed I could every time. Fiona also was saying "You are so strong" which just made me feel incredible. I was concerned that I hadn't peed for hours (I'd tried a couple of times in the pool and on the loo) so I asked if it would be worth catheterising. It was a struggle because I was swollen, but eventually a bit of pee was released into an old m&s chocolate orange tub - everything has two uses 🤣 I then needed to try and hold his head down low in between contractions because he'd been rocking back and forth for a while. I tried holding a gentle push but found this too tiring, so learnt little pulse pushes worked better. Eventually I started to feel the ring of fire, which I actually welcomed because I knew it meant it would soon be over. I'd also been practicing with an ani-ball so the sensation was familiar, and I was really in tune with my pelvic floor. I was able to hold his head there for a time, I was visualising the labia unfolding. Fiona said "You don't have to bare this any longer, you can push him out now". This was where the whole surrogacy cluster started spurring me on. They were literally cheering for me and it felt like the most powerful, huge, insane thing ever. I slowly felt his head emerging, Fiona asked if I wanted to have a feel and I shook my head, she said "You can probably already feel it enough". I had to give one last hard push to get his chin out. Pregnancy to postpartum 🤍 a few days before giving birth & a few days after. The postpartum period is probably the most vulnerable I’ve ever felt.. but at the same time I’ve never felt so strong. The bump has gone and a squishy tummy has been left in its place! Being pregnant is one of the only times I’ve felt at peace with my body.. now I’m postpartum I don’t hate it the same way I did before. How can I when it grew and birthed our little boy? 👶🏻 I do want to feel more comfortable in myself though. It’s been a month so I’m gonna try and make healthier choices from tomorrow. Ps.
