Join Patty Clune, @patty.melt, for her 5-day flameworking workshop, “Pendants and Marbles”! No prior experience with flameworking is necessary, though those with experience will benefit as well! Learn how to flamework in this all levels intensive workshop, or build on your existing skills! This class will cover how to make marbles, pendants, beads, and more. Students will learn flameworking techniques over the course of five days using borosilicate glass on the torch. This course will cover basic studio practices and tools to create small flameworked objects while exploring pattern, shape, and color! This class meets from 9am to 5pm each day, Monday through Friday, with additional studio time Monday through Thursday, from 5pm to 9pm. Materials for participating in the course are included. If you have specific colors you are interested in working with please bring them with you. Philadelphia based artist Patty Clune is a dedicated craftsperson focused on glass since 2013. She graduated from Salem Community College in 2018 with associates degrees in Scientific Glassblowing Technology and Glass Art. She had previously earned a degree in Visual Communications before attending Salem with a focus on studio art. She has worked for multiple artists as an assistant, mostly notably for Paul Stankard from 2016 to present. Patty served as Head Gaffer at John Pomp Studios, specializing in high end lighting and furniture production. An immaculate heart for my great aunt ~ she is a very devout Catholic woman and I wanted to make something for her that incapsulated her compassion for others. I adore this piece so much and definitely would like to remake it ~after~ I rework the pattern because WHY DID I MAKE THE PETALS SO SMALL. 😅 . Also - RIP to my Hakko. It died yesterday after three long years of service of almost every day use. Luckily, I was gifted an iron by my parents for my birthday last year and boy howdy did it come in handy. I soldered this all with a very pointed tip which threw me back to when I was a baby glass artist.
