The exquisite and tender strokes of this lawyer-artist bring these Banaba blooms to life. Endemic to the Southern Tagalog region, the Banaba plant had been used throughout history, for various medicinal needs. It is but one of forty Philippine flora and fauna being featured in this eco-embracing and life-affirming art exhibit at the Manila Hotel, co-sponsored by the Philippine Botanical Art Society and University of the Philippines’ Museum of a History of Ideas. Rainy Saturday Night Feels - so figured I'll post this already. 🥹 A few weeks ago, I asked someone what he thought of a painting of mine that I've been wanting to recreate - and it struck me when he said it felt like "trying to cover up their past but the past is still getting through" and "white is a moment of light." The next day during mass, when the priest was saying how your words should match your actions - it hit me to paint over an angry painting of mine with white roses. Since the paint is still wet from the blue and red roses I initially painted, the white paint did change. For me, it is a perfect way to describe the feels of "yes our past can get through our present but that doesn't always need to be a negative thing" I wanted to convey. 🥰 So thankful to create art just to create and document my feelings 🥹 and really hopeful this year is the PR year 💯 Okay end of my Ted Talk. last month i painted (yep, finally!!!(again 😆)) a still life. i thought ito yung first still life ko until biglang may image ng banana peels in my sketchpad na nag-pop up sa ulo ko. “oh yes that’s the first!” pero sinundan ng another mental image: yellow lilies in a vase on a blue table against a blue wall—an acrylic painting on a 50 x 70 cm canvas. im guessing both paintings didnt come to mind agad because 2 yrs old na yata sila & i have little access to them now. post-op ni Wooly (my dog na may pica), tinago ko na yung mga art materials ko. the “yellow lilies” naman, i shyly but courageously (🥳) gifted to a friend. anyway, this “Onions Hanging from the Ceiling”, hinati ko into 12 square (1:1) pics—and 1/12 pa lang ito🫠 —because: im LOVINg it!!!! i feel like… this painting deserves to take up that! much! space! for ✨the energy✨ it emanates (sa paningin ko, at least) and aaaaaaaa nae-excite na ko makitasafeedkoyungbiggerpicture 👉🏽🥹👈🏽 #filipinoart #filipinocuisine #pinoycuisine #pinoyculture #impressionistpaintings #filipinaartist #slowlifediary #lifeintheprovince #gardeningph #sunsetph #pinoyartists #pinoyart
