We have some exciting new additions at Fennies Eltham, Westmount Road! 🥚🐣 We welcomed five duck eggs and created a live investigation station for all children to access daily! ⭐️ We brought the ducks into the setting 36 hours before they hatched so the children could learn about the changes they saw before the eggs hatched, as well as how to nurture and care for our quacking friends! 💛 The children have been amazed at the changes and growth every day. Did you know that a public space has been created in central London for the first time in 10 years? The new pedestrian zone called Strand Aldwych has been open since December 2022 in Aldwych next to Somerset House near the Thames. Strand Aldwych is a pedestrian’s paradise. The pedestrian zone transforms the formerly polluted and often congested section of Strand, a main thoroughfare in Westminster, into an attractive outdoor space. The area in front of Somerset House, around St. Clement Danes Church and King’s College London is now traffic-free. In total, the new square is around 170 meters long. The planners at LDA want to invite people to linger: Benches, green spaces and trees adorn the square. Westminster City Council speaks of an “inviting public space” that includes art installations as well as seating areas, 41 new trees and flowers. The Colour Of Dinosaurs - @polkatheatre - AD/PR VISIT Last weekend I took Amelia and Isabella to see The Colour Of Dinosaurs in @polkatheatre Wimbledon. If you follow us you will know that Isabella is dinosaur mad and dreams of being a palaeontologist so I knew she would love this show but I didn’t realise how much Amelia and I would also enjoy it. This ROAR-SOME show features world-renowned palaeontologist DR Jakob Vinther. Jakob discovered what colour dinosaurs were which is the inspiration for this show. We learn about this discovery, see amazing dinosaur fossils whilst also learning about dinosaurs and ourselves. The show also celebrates people’s identities, their differences and what makes them who they are. The talented cast of actors & musicians really inspired me, they gave me hope for my children, for society and their future. The Colour Of Dinosaurs is a fun, educational and interactive show which will have you singing and dancing. I can honestly say I was incredibly moved by this performance and in particular by Victoria Oruwari who has the voice of an angel. Animation workshop 🎥 During the Easter Holiday, we went to @museumstjohn to one of their family sessions, ‘Who’s Behind You! Stop Motion Animation”. Taking inspiration from Veronica Nisbet’s First World War scrapbook, they showed her how to do a small animation. Staff were very friendly and taught her patiently how to do her animation. Although the workshop was fully booked, there weren’t many people, which was a shame since it was nicely set up. 🗓️ The next free activity is during May Half term “Fantastic Ferns”, Wednesday 29 May, 11:00 - 15:30. They also have the Seacole Sessions, which are a sensory-friendly event designed to support autistic and neuro-diverse families. I’m beyond excited to launch our new interior design event series. My vision is to create a light-hearted, parent-focussed baby class, think 𝘭𝘶𝘯𝘤𝘩 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯 + 𝘣𝘢𝘣𝘺, where you can chat with fellow design-lovers and leave feeling inspired. Whether you’re looking to refresh your home or just want to learn a little more about interior design, the sessions offer a welcoming space to empower your inner creative. Babies aren’t required, but are absolutely welcomed. We have plenty of high chairs and you’ll receive a handbook to take away so you won’t miss out if your little one decides they don’t feel like learning about design that day!
