🇬🇧 Tree peonies start blooming in my garden. Every year, these few days of their flowering are a real feast for the eyes and nose 🌸🌸🌸. And I've already made three roses for an art project #roseofhope of @eva_petric_angel_hound at the #festivalidrijskecipke in Slovenia. Each of my roses is slightly different. I also introduced this idea to other lacemakers from the Bobbin Lace Club at the Wilanow Palace, and they are making this lace pattern, too. So a whole bouquet of these lace flowers will be sent to Idrija from Warsaw 🙂. 🇵🇱 W moim ogrodzie zakwitły piwonie drzewiaste. 🇬🇧 I have already mentioned in my posts that I like to take part in joint #lace_projects. This time I almost missed the invitation to participate in such a project, which will be presented at #festivalidrijskecipke in June. On March 13, an announcement appeared on @idrijalace with website bit.ly/49MI8k1, where you can find out all details. I saved this info to look into details a little later... And I mentioned it after over a month 😝!!! Times flies so fast! Fortunately, the deadline to make and send #roseofhope to #Slovenia is May 25, so I quickly started working according to the free #lacepattern by @eva_petric_angel_hound (it is available on the website in several sizes and versions). It took me 2 evenings to make this rose. More of them are coming 🙂. #idrijalace is a bobbin tape #lace. I mosty deal with #tapelace, but I have never learned this particular kind - Idrija lace, so I made my piece intuitively after seeing other photos. I was also very encouraged by the project organizers who invited lace makers to be creative 👍. I’m so honored to be collaborating again with the lace school of Idrija and the tourist board of Idrija also for this year‘s international festival of laces, but this time in a different way…@idrijalaceschool @visitidrija @idrijalace. After having collaborated on four monumental pieces, the first one being „Corona Rose“ 🌹 which still - BLOOMS on the walls of the magnificent St Stephansdom Cathedral in Vienna, created during the first lockdown upon which lace makers form the experimental lace group lead by genius lacemaker Maja Scetlik @majasvetlik donated to me their lace roses which I added to my just completed Corona Rose work, made from recycled hand made laces from all over the world. We then continued our collaboration also on Corona Rose in 3 Movements, as well as Tree of Life 1&2, which have traveled the world in their mission to spread hope. Onze reis bracht ons naar de regio Al Haouz in Marokko (onder Marrakesh), die eerder werd getroffen door een verwoestende aardbeving. I wanted to share something I’m so proud of….. this weekend we had the 2nd annual Beth Davis Rose of Hope Men’s tennis tournament benefiting @normapfriembreastcenter . There’s been a women’s tournament for many years, but two years ago, i decided the Men needed to get in on the fundraising and tennis too. So full speed ahead and some help from amazing sponsors @cindyraneyandteam @tuskhome @wlarchitecture and @bmwofbridgeport , we were able to raise over $18000 this year. I’m so proud to have created something that’s in its 2nd year, and one that is SO MUCH FUN for such a good cause.
