Every photo holds a story, and I’m certain this old tree has many to share. Here’s my tale of capturing this shot after years of unsuccessful attempts. 🪰The first time I photographed this tree was during summer. Cows were grazing nearby, and unfortunately, a swarm of flies ruined the scene, making it impossible to edit them out. 🤢On my second attempt, Jamberoo was recovering from heavy floods. Despite a beautiful morning, the stench of stagnant water was overwhelming, and I didn’t even take a photo. 🐮During my third attempt, I heard cows running and initially thought they were coming down the hill for a visit. To my surprise, they were actually on the road charging toward me, and I had to make a quick dash to the car—turns out, I’m not a huge fan of cows! 😍Finally, on my fourth attempt, everything fell into place perfectly. Time to tell you about another of our fave spots to pull in and spend time on our travels. @reflectionsholidays Seal Rocks. What a place. It’s magic on so many levels. Swipe through the pics and videos to see some of the magic . Like many we places we love, its about the connection with the people there that usually hook us in first. Katie and Dan (Managers) are absolute salt of the earth. Their children are apples off the tree. The staff are all so friendly and helpful. . The Park… if you dig old school vibes with a hint of the modern world, Seal Rocks has a perfect balance. Some sites have a complete ‘I’m back in the 80’s’ vibe. Yet the main area at the front of the park where literally every guest gathers at around 4pm to enjoy chats, drinks and watching the ocean to the east as the sun hits the ground behind. . It’s a perfect spot for a morning coffee too and Adele and I have sat there and heard huge whales singing as they breached just off the beach front. Mind blowing. . This is also the area where I often set up and entertain the guests. And boy do we have fun. As Dan often yells into my microphone.. SEAL ROCKS, ROCKS!!! . Seal Rocks has been a perfect balance for Adele with often being booked out solid for massage work during our stays. So during those small moments of breathing space between clients, there’s time for a quick walk to the beach to soak up the energy and salt air. . Other great features around the park are that it’s a dead end road… there’s bugger all phone coverage (trust me, it’s awesome for digital detoxing)… kids are seen playing together and not staring at screens…. For the fisher people out there, you’ll be in heaven…. Surfers love it. There’s genuinely just so much you can do at Seal Rocks. . Put it on your list. Winderabandi Campground 😍 💥 By far our favourite campsite so far! Although having a boat here is a must! The snorkelling around the point and numerous sharks, dolphins and turtles. Some days the water was so glassy we could just ocean watch straight from the boat, floating over coral and watching the sea life was just insane! Most of our days looked a lot like this: Breakfast and a coffee with beachfront views 😍 Take the boat out for a cruise to snorkel, dive or fish 🎣 Come back for some lunch and a sleep for the baby 😴 Back out on the boat for an arvo tinny adventure 🚤 Back in for dinner as the sunsets over the point 😍 We had sites 16, 23 & 24 and all were as fabulous as each other! Well, the time has come to clean up our old 2006 #olympiccaravan aka Maggie and get it ready to sell in the coming week. . It’s been sitting safely here for the past year and has only been used for one trip to Melbourne and back in that time. We had intended on semi settling down this year and was going to put it on Camplify, but our urge to continue exploring is more than our desire to settle… so yeah. It will be sad to see it go when it sells. It has been such a great van for us and took us on many adventures. . My Saturday morning trip to Tasmania started with some excitement because the x-ray machine at security saw something on my body. So, for the first time in all my travels, I had to be taken to a private room for additional screening. The agents were polite and apologetic, and they found… nothing. . After that, I found the Qantas Domestic Lounges. For domestic passengers, there are two lounges, the Qantas Club and the swankier Qantas Business Lounge. Even though I’m flying economy — it’s less than a two-hour flight, and I couldn’t justify paying five times the economy fare to fly in business — my status on American Airlines gave me access to the business lounge. It’s a reminder of how uncivilized flying in the US has become. There were no lines to enter, and the lounge is spacious with plenty of seating. There is also a barista making espresso beverages to order along with self-serve coffee machines. In addition, there’s a variety of breakfast foods available for guests. As an added bonus, the WiFi has both download and upload speeds greater than 100 Mbps. . DRIVING OZ When we departed Hervey Bay around this time two years ago we had a mud map plan to drive a lap without a end date & to now see where we've actually been so far, we sure know we've travelled some serious distance in a short period of time. When planning a long lap we loved the idea we set ourselves to travel Australia beach 2 bush 2 outback & by using the zig zag method we chose it's offered us many different mini trips, excursions plus experiences within the amazing journey. Fifty plus thousand kilometres over 2 years & we can honestly say we'd do it all again albeit over a much much longer period. We've camped in some awesome & amazing places, ticked off some bucket list items, seen some of the the strangest thing to us, met wonderful people plus grown within ourselves throughout this amazing experience. Our type of trip is not for everyone we know & it has been challenging for us both on many occasions too. However, we know if we didn't challenge ourself in all manner of ways, then living this life on the road could have been a much different experience and one that wouldn't have suited either of us to be honest. Where too now and what's next? We'll slowly drive back to Hervey Bay for planned commitments over Winter & whilst there we'll set out a new mud map experience with a much slower pace in mind to enjoy more relaxation.
