In 1997 the Misfits finally released Static Age which was already recorded back in 1978 and Evilive was reissued again with reworked cover artwork, but also the resurrected Misfits released a new album entitled American Psycho. This is American Psycho japanese CD pressing released by Geffen Records which comes with OBI strip and extra booklet with band BIO and lyrics in japanese. The cover booklet folds out into a poster. This CD also has extra song Hell Night which comes after Don't Open 'Til Doomsday. Back in the day I was just glad that the Misfits was back and hadn't any idea about the beef between orig members and when I heard AP I thought it was pretty good album. The sound was upgraded but the horror theme and image was still there even though the lyrics were more cheesy. And Graves did good job on vocals and dr. Chud on drums. The 1991 book, 'The Famous Monsters Chronicles', lists the artist as uncredited but the original work, since credited to Basil Gogos, sold at Heritage Auctions for over $15K in 2015. This was the first 100-page issue, and it is definitely packed with tons of great articles. It also includes a handy index of the first 12 issues! I recommend picking up a reader copy...this is an excellent issue! Check out the second pic of this post for a true appreciation of Gogos' genius. Greetings Phantom Phanatics! Presented today is Famous Monsters of Filmlandย #10ย from January 1961. The cover is anotherย #basilgogosย masterpiece featuring Claude Rains as The Phantom of the Opera. This issue includes previews of three upcoming films: "The Tormented", "The Lost World", and "Caltiki-The Undying Monster." I'm kinda interested in finding out what Cal-tiki is! You can also find a piece on Rains' redux of the "Phantom of the Opera." And much more! This book was originally in the collection of Robert (Bob) Price, an Associate Editor/Editor of Screen Thrills Illustrated. I acquired it from renowed Warren collector Mark Sielski who acquired it from Mr. Price's estate on his passing. Mark related that Bob would get his books directly from the Warren presses, where he worked, and store them between books to keep them crisp and flat. I love stories like this! My 1962 Yearbook has the same provenance. This book is graded byย @cgccomicsย at 9.0 VERY FINE/NEAR MINT. The CGC average grade for this book is 6.17 across 45 graded examples. This book is very difficult to find in high grade. Mostly due to the extremely fragile spine. There are only 2 copies that grade higher than this book. A 9.4 and a 9.8! Want more?
