Where are they now? Trenton Knapp Class 22-2 Graduate Trenton Knapp graduated from the @uscg's basic training this past Friday. He was joined by his family and a group of KSCA staff members who were there to celebrate his accomplishment. Trenton is now heading to his first duty station in Hawaii. Trenton and his twin brother Tyson are both graduates of Class 22-2 and Tyson recently completed his @usairforce basic training and technical training and is now off to his first duty station in North Carolina. Mr. Steve Grossman serves as the Director of the Keystone State ChalleNGe Academy and comes to the KSCA with an immense background and variety of experiences. This includes his service in the @panationalguard where he achieved the rank of major. Additionally, Mr. Grossman has held various leadership roles within numerous schools in western Pennsylvania and Ohio including being a principal and superintendent. One of the KSCA's 8 Core Components is job skills. As part of this component, Cadets are exposed to various potential career paths during their time at the KSCA. Yesterday, a group of Cadets had the opportunity to tour the Pennsylvania State Police Academy in Hershey, Pennsylvania. They had the opportunity to tour the facilities, learn more about the many employment opportunities, and talk with numerous PA State Police Troopers. Recently, the Cadets took a trip to the Pennsylvania National Guard armory in Carlisle where they spent an evening exploring a variety of military careers possible for them if they chose to purse military service as part of their post-residential plans. During the event, they got to learn about combat medicine, modern day weapons systems, night vision capabilities, and even get up close and personal with a military medical helicopter. For our first feature, we are showcasing KSCA's new commandant, Mr. Steve Secor who can be seen in this picture with Maj. Gen. Mark Schindler (Pennsylvania's adjutant general and head of the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs. Mr. Secor comes to the KSCA with a vast wealth of knowledge obtained at other ChalleNGe programs across the country. Prior to assuming the role of commandant, Mr. Secor was a senior team leader at the KSCA. This past weekend was a busy one for the Cadets as they were out and about within the community in force and worked on numerous projects as part of their service to the community requirements. One of these projects was collecting litter with the Northern Lebanon Rotary Club and also with assisting with the Pine Grove Military Food Share.
