Eastville Park is a gorgeous hotbed of culture, with it's 70 acres of wildflowers, ponds, and woodland having played host to festivals such as Tokyo World & Love Saves the Day. 📚HISTORY Eastville Park was bought by Bristol City Council from prominent local landowner Sir Greville Smyth in 1889 and transformed into a park to provide a sanctuary from the squalor and overcrowding enveloping the city. Many of the park’s striking trees date back to this time and the grand swimming pool (pictured below), an original feature, has been unused since it was hit by a bomb during the Bristol Blitz in the Second World War. Nearby, Greenbank Cemetery was originally established in 1871 and has expanded greatly since. Caught an appearance by @johnbrzowskicomedy who started off a funny mic. @waynecherry_comedy came out with the short shorts and it was on from there. He didn't imagine the reception that he would get from an all male mic in Brooklyn that he got. We all had fun getting in touch with ourselves while we all laughed loud. @davidallencomedy came out to talk some shit and try another angle. Popped out cause it is Brooklyn and is a @monsterzpodcast production. Was good to see the smooth criminal talk his shit. Desi’s Casa at his Corona, CA Breeding Farm. On land Desi bought in 1959, he built a 4,400sf ranch house. Carved in wood over the door, “Bienvenidos a la casa de Don Desiderio Alberto Arnaz y de Acha III”. Translated into English, “Welcome to the home of Mr. Desiderio Alberto Arnaz and of Acha III”. Desi Jr. recalls his part-time living at the house. “My dad actually designed the house. He loved designing…. it had a certain Spanish-like architecture from his childhood in Cuba. It was Old World…. I had horses and go-karts… Back then, we were the only people out there. It used to be all horses and cattle farms. It was fun.” Desi Jr. went on to say the wall of French doors at the back of the house provided a spectacular view of the ranch because the house sat on a hill. After about 10 years, Desi sold the ranch. It went through a few more hands and was eventually demolished to build a cheese factory. The house, which was moved to Eastvale, Ca has an interesting story. From the Desi’s House organization’s website, “After his death in 1986, the Altfillisch family purchased and relocated the house to its current location. When the surrounding 365 acres were sold years later for a new housing development, the deal stipulated that the house, with its unique architectural details and historic charm, remain intact. As such, in 2015, it was purchased by JCSD as part of the Santa Ana River Trail Extension Project. JCSD committed to renovating the 2.5-acre property as a premier recreation and leisure venue. On February 12, 2022, marked by the venues grand opening ceremony, JCSD fulfilled that commitment. Tuesday was a full day of Comedy. Went out to support young @josh.rabin outta Staten Island compete in the @laughingbuddhacomedy festival/Competition @stmarkscomedyclub . They dont allow cameras, so no pics from it but one right after it was over. This round in the competition brought out some quality comics. I met one before a couple times. Can't remember his name. Josh did real good, but didn't make it. In my opinion he could have made it over a couple of guys, but I hold my opinion. From there, I had the itch to perform so I hit the @monsterzpodcast 945p Open Mic @eastvillecomedy hosted by @waynecherry_comedy . Got there and said hey to Ahly the bartender. Caught the end of @seanradcomedy show. Saw @carlypolistina get busy for the Ginger Italians. Had a small yet funny Open Mic with my man @elel_comedy started it off. I got up and did some new stuff and an oldie. Talked about how I told my grandmother I smoked cigs when I was a teenager. Not real funny but still a story. @joeslevster made an appearance which is always dope. Was treated to @warren_ojdajuiceman who came to work things out. Was nice meeting @letssmokeandjoke who came out to work out. Good to see Jimmy James at the mic again to talk his shit. @huge_jay_comedy got up and did new shit at the gym that sounded real good. Had to get out my house so I found a Comedian I wanted to see and today it was @bradaintfunny . Tapped him for my party 5/5, wanted to get a laugh and I wasn't disappointed. The Just The Tip Show @secretpour was the ticket. On the bill is @spaandaa and @asif.comedy , people I respect in this game. Co hosting was the lovely and sharp tongued @vscoa who remembered me, which was cool. I was treated to a funny show by a variety of Comedians I didn't meet. I did get to meet @shawnjoshuakinnear who was cool and is a producer. Something I want to be in the near future. From @secretpour I headed to the close to home, @eastvillecomedy 1130p Saturday Open Mic that is getting popular for all the wrong reasons. Jk. I had to connect to get on, but I did and there was a decent crowd! Got to meet some good people including @loveleecomedy who actually worked out, while he was working out! Good to meet fellow Verde . Got to walk and talk with @jonathan.rose84 from Oklahoma who was cool. I had a good time. I did some crowd work, and did some jokes. Got aftershocks but no real eruptions. Wasn't disappointed, but I should have done better. I executed the jokes. Putting a 5 together.Still working. So much more work to do.
