Myth: the best way to get a flat stomach is to do ab crunches ✅ or ❌???? How many of you believed that crunches were the best way to loose fat around the abdominal area? I know I did 🙋🏻‍♀️ Well this is not true and there’s no research that backs this up. Crunches can definitely help to build strength, but even the most common ab exercises only target abdominal muscles that are at the surface. A combination of strength training, cardio, and a healthy diet is key to getting rid of abdominal fat. Arguably, diet is the most important one of all. In terms of strength training, add ab exercises that target local core muscles to build “deep core” strength, and thus, your stability and control. Dead bugs, planks, and superman are some great exercises to add to your routine. In terms of diet, focusing on increasing your protein intake can help to loose fat. Did you know that each gram of protein has only 4 calories and each gram of fat has 9? Also, digesting protein requires more energy, so your body will burn more calories while digesting a high protein meal.
