So. Here's what I was working on with clay foam, which I had to learn about a lot as I went. I had to make this a second time after the first shrunk too small to fit on my head, and the second attempt ended up good enough that I kept it! So here's my process: frozen lasagna box template, cut it at the angled spots and put foam over it (to prevent too much shrinking). Coke cans to keep the round shape while it dried. Water to stick the curls to the main headband at am angle and clay foam over the seams to smooth, then cigarette packs tented to hold the bends in shape while the seams dried. To help keep shape and hold a bit of tension when actually wearing it, copper wire on the back. Initially this was for creating a ledge to glue it to a plastic headband but there were a LOT of issues with that and I ditched the idea. The sixth photo is the front of the finished molded and unprimed piece, and the point where this is very clear about what it is. I used plastidip as primer and the paint is as shown. I did a single coat of brass on the back and edges and as many coats as it took on the front to get full coverage and intentionally leave brushstrokes. From the start of the first attempt to the final actual finished product, this took me two weeks. Honestly I should have made a blog post about its creation. For my Sunday NFCC costume, this is my pride and joy and one of the couple items that stops me from looking like a Sindel cosplay. #cosplaycrafting #lasagnavess #clayfoam #foamclay #foamcrafting

We explored sculpting using foam clay during yesterday’s session. The children decorated their initials with things they wanted and had a great time doing so. Initially they wondered how to do certain shapes but once we started, there was no ending. They wanted to keep sculpting and make more foam initials to be turned into fridge magnets. Prop work - the Mardi Gras crown for Castle Park mascot Duke the Dragon. This one was a process. I had actually made a first prior to the one you see here. That one I will admit was unsatisfactory work. So I decided to redo it with proper measurements and materials. . The base was made from foam and reinforced with craft wire to help shape it. The fabric was then cut to shape and everything was glued following proper alignment with the registration marks. Afterwards, the gems were glued in place. . Used @createxcolors pearlized gold airbrush paint to finish the crown. Also, createx pearlized purple, green, and yellow were used to paint the Fleur de Lis on top (which was sculpted out of foam clay). . What's up everyone! Got a new figure to post today. John Marston from Red Dead Redemption!!! I made this little mini outlaw/bounty hunter for the dude who voiced him, Rob Wiethoff. This figure was definitely a complicated one, with all the gear and such. But it was fun to make and it was definitely worth it in the end. The gun is also 3D printed and made in Blender. that's right I got a 3D resin printer. Don't worry I'm not going to switch to that as my main. That's Clay's job. The horns we all molded from foam clay and airbrushed with UV paint. glyphs so nice, I framed it twice. Another modeling foam piece I’ve made that’s been sitting around for a few years. Riding the motivation wave so now there’s a set of two :) This one based around an inspiration of old cuneiform tablets from the Middle East. Salut les crafteuses ! 💜 Salut les crafteurs ! ❤ Petit Wip cosplay sur une mousse que nous n'avons pas encore l'habitude de vous présenter vu que c'est l'une des dernières arrivées chez nous, la juste nommée : Eva Cuir ! 🥳 Idéal pour la simulation de maroquinerie, Ce soir c'est @tomren.cosplay (IG) qui nous offre un WIP de toute beauté avec le holster de Nathan Drake, issu du jeu Uncharted 2 : Thief's end 🥰 La mousse EVA Cuir est une mousse à la fois souple mais extrémement dense, presque 300kg / m3. Cela lui confère une résistance et une longévité à toute épreuve. Indéchirable à la main et pouvant être travaillé comme du cuir, mais en la chauffant au lui de l'humidifier. Matoirs et autres outils peuvent être utilisés dessus. 😀 Enfin un peu de peinture lui confère la teinte finale voulu et permet un rendu plus que crédible, comme en atteste ces images. 😍 De l'EVA cuir 3mm a été utilisé pour la confection et l'inscription dorsale a été gravé à la dremel et lissé à chaud au décapeur thermique. Can't stop, won't stop...making mushrooms! 😆🍄 In my free time over the last several months, I've been sculpting mushrooms by the dozens and experimenting with a few different mediums. Here, I used with foam clay: tried out crayola model magic as well as a cosplay foam clay from a local craft store. I found that using a homemade stamp for the gill texture kept the details quite crisp! Now, what will I do with all these foam clay creations? 🤔 Some have already been used for a fantasy-mushroom-scavenger-hunt-adventure! 👀🍄 Some will turn into ornaments and plant stakes and be given as gifts to friends and family. ❤️ Some will make their way into costumes I have planned for this year, so keep an eye out. 😊 #mushroom #mushroomart #fantasymushroom #foamclay #sculpture #natureinspired
