It was a crazy action packed Fit Pack adventure on Friday morning with Cotton & Zeva, Milly, Scott, Walker, Moss, Flash & Baxter. They say poodles and Border Collies are the most intelligent breeds, after this adventure I beg to differ; the Poods, Scott, Walker & Moss all had painted on ears, or may just have been the fact that they were barking so much they couldn’t hear me! It was a lot wetter than predicted on Thursday morning when we hit the tracks up above the city with Ravi, Murphy, Jack, Marley, Flash & Baxter…..it was soooo good to have Murphy back after he had some time off to mend a sore back, he was back to his usual self having tugs of war with Flashman over sticks. Those two are hilarious, the size difference is definitely on Murphy’s side but he realises Flash’s size and plays accordingly, he’s such a gorgeous big boy, a big, slightly rowdy, gentle giant. We always love it when Marley, our ‘casual’ Fit Pack member joins a pack, she also loves sticks and so does Ravi, so with no water, other than the stuff coming from the sky, for Ravi to bark at, it was sticks all round today….. except for Jack and Baxter, they were off exploring together. Say hi to Tui, our newest and youngest Fit Pack member. Tui is the 8month old younger sister to Fern, a gorgeous sweet natured Doberman I have been walking for almost a year now. You may or may not know but puppies go through 4 cycles of Fear during their early development and into their adolescence. Each cycle can last from 2-3 weeks, sometimes more depending on the breed. Tui is currently within the ‘Flight Instinct’ stage which tends to happen between the ages of 6-9 months (sometimes up to 14 mths) so it is vitally important when introducing young dogs at this age to new situations, that you do it gradually and calmly, and use a lot of praise, reward and reassurance where necessary. So on Tuesday, Tui and Fern joined Flash & Baxter (who Tui has known since a young pup) on her first pack adventure in the forest. I bought along Spoodle Flash also, as he is part of the Wednesday morning pack Tui will be joining, we will gradually introduce Tui to new members of the Wednesday morning pack so she isn’t overwhelmed with too many dogs at once and when she has met them all she will be ready to start in the pack alongside her big sister Fern. Tui is was amazing on Tuesday, she had a fabulous time and I think Pack adventures will be wonderful for her, especially to build her socialisation and respect for other dogs. A soggy cold forest adventure with the Wednesday afternoon Fit Pack crew, not so many photos sorry due to freezing cold hands, battling a constant wet phone and mostly because the dogs were not keen to stand still in the cold rain, they needed to keep moving to stay warm…….they all still had a great time despite it getting colder and colder as our adventure continued, it was 1 degree and sleeting when we got back to the van, an 11 degree difference from the morning adventure 😳 The dogs were keen to be cleaned up and dried off and then snuggled up and cosy warm in the van for the ride home. We hit the forest with the Tuesday crew, and oh what fun they had chasing sticks and pinecones, wallowing in puddles and cleaning off in the streams. With the weather being ‘not so pleasant’ I knew the golf course would be empty and I only had 5 dogs so we hit the golf course for our Friday adventure! Cotton, Zeva & Scott had a great time tearing around with Flash & Baxter as they went about their usual bunny hunting escapades. It seemed like a super small pack on Thursday after Wednesdays full pack, only Murphy, Ravi & Jack joined Flash & Baxter for their Fit Pack adventure. The Wednesday crew had an epic time at the beach, I joined my morning and afternoon packs together as I had a few dogs away and everyone is such well socialised great natured dogs that I knew they would all get on, and they did! So we made it a big adventure.
