Logitech G502 - 10 години в блясъка на славата Едва ли има някой от съвременните геймъри, който да не е държал в ръцете си някой от безбройните вече модели периферия – клавиатури и мишки, дело на Logitech, посветени именно на качественото преживяване, докато играе любимите си игри. Yesterday was the 40th anniversary of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, so thought I'd go with Return of the Shredder for todays Mega Drive Monday post. I didn't get to play this BITD as I was desperate to play a TMNT video game at home & had sold my MD to get a SNES with Turtles in Time being a big draw! It would be over a year before Konami started publishing MD/Genesis titles so I never looked back. Happy Star Wars Day - I usually post about the SEGA Saturn on a weekend, but as it didn't receive any Star Wars games, I'm going with this N64 classic instead. I didn't own an N64 BITD so I first played Shadows of the Empire on the PC when it was released a year later. Loved this game - the graphics were superb & it felt like playing an arcade game at home, think I was happy to keep replaying the Hoth levels rather than progressing for a while! Whilst the N64 graphics obviously aren't as good as the PC, they do a decent job & it's a quick & easy way for me to play the game these days. May the fourth be with you. If you're in the random side of the humour spectrum this is an essential game to check out. It's hilarious! I experienced many laughing fits as a child and the laughs still hold up well today. It has a great art style which to me is still attractive to play in the current day. Skullmonkeys is a challenging platformer even from the first level, the one hit kills are super annoying. The music is fantastic, it creates a suitable atmosphere and is really enjoyable to listen to. Without any spoilers, try and listen to the bonus level music on youtube. Hope my Alien posts aren't boring you all (especially as I've still got a few more to go)! 😅 I never played the Game Gear version of Alien³ BITD - I first played it a few years ago, and was genuinely surprised by how good it is. Essentially an 8-bit version of the MD/Genesis game, it plays well (also just as tricky/frustrating as its 16-bit brother!) even on a small screen. ▪︎ I've added a short video clip at the end - anyone wanting to see more, I'd recommend World of Longplays on YouTube, which is where this footage was taken from. Continuing the Alien Day posts on Mega Drive Monday and with this classic from Arena/Probe/Acclaim. I really enjoyed this game BITD despite it being crazy tough (I've never finished it). For some reason Alien 3 never had a Japanese release; it was planned - it's mentioned in the January 1995 issue of Japanese gaming mag BEEP! - but sadly never appeared. Whilst outting together this post, I found out there were plans for a Mega-CD version - would've loved to have seen how that turned out - a CD audio OST & bits of the game making use of Mode 7 effects could've really transformed the game from a good one to a great one. I mostly play at weekends... mostly. It's SaturnDay & continuing yesterday's AlienDay post with Alien Trilogy. Thanks to DOOM, FPS games had become very popular, and Acclaim did a great job giving us a decent Aliens game in this style. I was a PC owner when Alien Trilogy was released BITD & both Quake & Duke Nukem 3D were out so I didn't give it a lot of time as it seemed a little dated by comparison. There wasn't the same amount of console FPS games at that time so I can see how PS1 & Saturn owners would have given it more of a chance. It plays well on the Saturn (especially considering the hardware isn't always great with 3D games) & has decent audio. Tomorrow marks 31 years since SEGA released the Mega Drive 2 in Japan. Thought I'd share the shots I created for the SEGA Forever channel 2yrs ago for today's Mega Drive Monday post (along with a video of Sonic the Hedgehog turning a mk1 Mega Drive into the new MD2!). ⭐️ VOTE FOR UR FAVE VERSION BELOW! ⭐️ I've always preferred the colourful Japanese variant of the MD2 over the NA & EU versions but the Western versions do have a better designs in my opinion: swapping the sliding power switch for a toggle button that nicely matches the reset button gives it a much sleeker look and, most importantly for me, adding a small power LED between the buttons - one of those simple things that you don't miss until you don't have one! On 11th April 1993, SEGA sponsored the Formula 1 European Grand Prix. Held at Donington Park in England, it became famous for two main reasons; Ayrton Senna's incredible performance and the event being sponsored by SEGA. Senna's driving on this day has become the stuff of legend: driving in wet conditions, Senna went from 5th to 1st in a single lap, overtaking the powerful V10 Renault-Williams cars of Prost & Hill in his under-powered V8 McLaren and finishing the race in first place having lapped every car on the track with the exception of Damon Hill. SEGA's sponsorship could be seen everywhere and included having Sonic's legs painted on the sides of the Williams' cars and the SEGA logo on the wing. Fun fact: every time they won a race, Willliams would add a small sticker of the SEGA Pirate TV logo to the rear wing of their cars [Pic 9] and in response, McLaren added a sticker of a squashed hedgehog to the cockpit of their cars [Pic 10]! The event ended with Senna holding aloft a Sonic the Hedgehog statue that has become legendary amongst F1 and video game fans. Last year I shared some photos of a 3D printed version of this trophy and just over a year later, here's the finished product! A massive thanks to Andrew from The Back Office Show (YouTube) who 3D printed the trophy and Rob @r.a.w.talentart for the incredible paint job - I literally could not have done this without them both. Have you played Keio Flying Squadron 2 on the SEGA Saturn? A fun 2D side-scrolling platformer with great graphics & sound, but sadly a prohibitively expensive game to buy - Japanese copies sell for upwards of £200/$250 & European versions go for over £300/$375 (one sold on eBay a few weeks ago for £600/$750)! 😱 Luckily, thanks to ODE devices like the Satiator, there are ways to play expensive titles like this, otherwise I imagine very few of us (myself included) would be able to experience them.
