We found this beautiful old armoire in a depot-vente about 20 years ago. It was covered with a rather revolting thick, black, shiny varnish which I spent about three days painstaking removing, outside in the courtyard of our old house to get it back to its original state. It was well worth it though, it sat in our old bedroom for years and now it will probably go into this new room we’re currently building on our new (not so new) house. Does anyone have any idea as to its date? Mark has finished the colombage and plasterwork on the inside of the room. Next step to complete the other side (what will be a bathroom), and then begin work on the hallway which connects them. Plastering, wiring, sorting out the ceiling…. The ridge is finished on the main part of the roof, it’s been a hot few weeks so it’s good to have had a few slightly cooler days to get this done. The last lower part is already repaired and voliged. We had to replace a couple of rotten rafters but all good now. Next stage is the tiling… and of course the guttering has to go back on afterwards. Just finished the new beds in the second bedroom at Maison D’Artiste. We used to have a pair of wooden lit bateau which I loved, but these are slightly longer and our visitors seem to be getting taller and taller these days. The bedroom is deliciously cool on these hot days, the perfect place for an afternoon siesta. The old lit bateau will go in the party shed bedroom, which is soon to undergo a transformation with a new roof! We have CHICKS!! They are the cutest, tiniest, grey fluffy things ever. Three of them, they are all bantam chicks from very small, fluffy, grey, long feathered parents who produce mini eggs. So far all doing well.
